Anthony B. Miles entered the U.S. Navy’s Trident Submarine Force with perfect 20/20 vision. Two years aboard the USS Alaska (SSBN-732), Blue Crew, changed that. Stationed in the missile control center, he spent long hours deep below the ocean’s surface under harsh artificial lighting, staring at glowing control panels.
